Saturday AM Feb 18th

Good morning everyone.  Well the weekend is here!  I am hoping to get a lot done this weekend.  Once Monday morning rolls around, I will be in depth in training with our new weather system.  So this weekend is get stuff done around the house and for the week.  We have been having scattered showers across the area.  Here is a look at the radar right now.

I think the showers will taper a bit through the morning hours.  So I expect just mostly cloudy skies with a few random showers.  But as our storm system rotates due south of us late this afternoon and evening, we could see the scattered showers pick up a bit.  In fact I wouldn't be surprised to see a few snow showers mixed in.  It won't be a big deal, but might as well mention it.  Here is a look at the simulated radar for this evening.

Sunshine will return on Sunday, but temps will only be into the upper 40s for highs.  Our next storm system will arrive late Monday.  Now remember that my theories are that we are in about a 49 day cycle this year.  So our system on Monday and Tuesday will be the same system that we as on January 1st and 2nd.  This should give us rain chances late Monday and through the first half of the day on Tuesday.  Then Wednesday through Friday we will see some very fast moving waves that will play havoc with our temperatures.  However, I expect to stay mainly dry.  Another cold snap will move in late in the week.  Then we sit back and wait for the weekend.  We will see a 1, 2 punch of waves starting next Sunday with rain chances.  The possibly wintry weather for that Monday and Tuesday.  Let me show you what I am looking at.

When I look at this map, to me it does look familiar.  Why you might ask?  Lets go back 49 day prior to it.

On January 8th we had the same system, but a lack of moisture.  This time around we could very well have the moisture.  To me this looks like a possible ice set up.  The reason I say this is because a cold front pushes through with arctic air and it sits over us.  Then we could get warm air overriding that cold air at the surface.  This is a long ways away, but something I want to watch closely.

Here is your latest 7-day forecast.

LONG RANGE FORECAST

Next Weekend:

With the cool air working in and out late in the week, I do think we will warm up through the weekend.  We will see rain chances by Sunday.

February 25th-March 3rd:

We will have the rain chances on Sunday as this next storm system works through.  Right now I think it is very possible to get enough cold air to get some wintry weather by Monday or into Tuesday.  So we need to watch this as we get closer.  Temperatures will warm back up late in the week.  Our next system moves in with rain on Friday and Saturday.

March 4th-10th:

As cooler air works in on the backside of the storm system over the weekend, we could see some wintry weather.  Then mainly dry and cool through the week.  Warmer temperatures by the weekend with rain chances returning.

March 11th-17th:

A stronger system right at the beginning of the week.  This will give us rain or even thunderstorm chances on Sunday and Monday.  Then we will cool down with rain and snow chances on Wednesday and Thursday.  We should dry out and stay fairly cool into the weekend.
