Tuesday AM Feb 21st

Good Tuesday morning bloggers.  Well day 1 is down, and 4 to go.  I am not talking about the work week, I am talking about our training.  We are training on an amazing brand new graphics system.  Plus an amazing brand new radar.  However, I need to continue how to learn to use this new machine and build all of the graphics before I can launch it.  Right now my target date is this Friday.  I am not sure if I will make it right now.  If now it will be next Monday.  But I have very long days as I am training from about 8am in the morning and then working my normal shift.  So I will be living on very little sleep all week long.

Well we had some thunderstorms roll through on Monday evening.  We did see some severe thunderstorm warnings, but mainly for wind and hail.  They actually didn't look very impressive to me on radar.  This whole system has quickly pushed through as you can see on the radar below.

Even though a cold front has rolled through, temperatures really aren't going to cool down much.  This is a pacific cold front that rolled through.  So maybe a few notches cooler today than what we saw yesterday.  It will also stay on the windy side with winds out of the west at 10-20 mph.  We will see a big warm up on Wednesday with highs into the mid to upper 60s across the region.  This will be ahead of our next system that will drop in on Thursday.  This should be a fairly strong cold front that will drop our temperatures back down for Friday.  However, I just don't see much moisture with it.  I will through in a very slight chance for a shower on Thursday, but that is it.  Temperatures will warm up a bit again over the weekend ahead of another strong cold front on Sunday.  This should give us a few showers and much cooler temperatures once again.  I still think we have chances for rain or snow by about next Tuesday or Wednesday.  However, we will have to see if this wave can come together.  Remember my theories are that we are in a pattern with about a 49 day cycle.  So the last cycle we couldn't get the moisture to come together.  However, two cycle ago we did have a lot of rain, but no cold air.  The bottom line is it needs to be watched over the next few days.  I updated the long range forecast for you below.

Doug

Here is your latest 7-day forecast.

LONG RANGE FORECAST

Next Tuesday-Saturday:

I am going to keep chances for rain or snow in the forecast on Tuesday and Wednesday.  The models really aren't showing this, but if we can get some moisture I think we have the chances for this.  Temperatures will stay cool for the rest of the week.  We will also stay on the dry side.

March 4th-10th:

Temperatures warm up with rain chances early in the week.  We will see rain chances on Sunday and Monday, then as the colder air works in maybe a rain snow mix for Tuesday.  Then temperatures will be cool for the rest of the week.

March 11th-17th:

Mild temperatures early in the week with rain chances.  We will see two waves, so rain chances will stick around from Sunday through Wednesday.  We could see a little wintry weather on the back end of this system.  Then another wave with rain chances on Friday and Saturday.

March 18th-24th:

A cool start to the week with cool temperatures through the middle of the week.  Then temperatures will moderate for the second half of the week with rain chances by the week.
