
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Missouri Southern junior catcher Sam Ryan has been named the MIAA Co-Hitter of the Week as announced by the league office today.
Ryan, a 6-2 native of Lake Elmo, Minn. and a transfer from the University of Minnesota, had his best week yet as a Lion as he had a hit in each of the six games played. Against Pitt State, Ryan scored the game-winning run in the opener, racing from first to score on a shot to left center. In game two, he scored three runs and had a hit in the Lions' 15-10 win.
At No. 10, UCM, Ryan had a hit and a run in the opener. He had two hits and an RBI in game one of the Saturday double-header, and followed that up with a home run in the night cap. In the Sunday finale, Ryan had another home run while scoring twice and driving in four. For the week, Ryan hit .450 with seven runs, seven RBIs, nine hits, a double, two home runs, a walk and four stolen bases.
Ryan and the Lions will be back in action this weekend with a Friday/Saturday series at Washburn.
