
MUSKOGEE, Okla. — The Pitt State baseball team posted a pair of non-conference victories over Bacone College Tuesday (Apr. 17), taking 2-1 and 2-0 victories.
The Gorillas (14-23) scored a pair of runs in the top of the seventh in the opener to overcome a 1-0 deficit against the Warriors (23-18).
Ryan Bilovesky doubled to lead off the inning. Austin Lastimado then beat out a bunt single, before Adam Reed delivered a run-scoring hit. Luke Bordewick advanced the runners with a bunt and Evan Thomas plated Lastimado with the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly.
Matt Stalcup (5-5), who surrendered Bacone's lone run in the sixth inning, got the final three outs to pick up the win. Jake Stevenson tossed five shutout innings for the Gorillas.
In game two, the Gorillas scored single runs in the first and fourth innings and pitchers Jake Moore and George Brandecker combined on a three-hitter.
Bilovesky drove in Thomas with a run-scoring single in the first inning for Pitt State, while Lastimado reached on an error, advanced to second and scored on a failed pickoff attempt in the fourth frame.
Moore allowed three hits in five innings of work. He walked three and struck out two batters. Brandecker earned the save with a pair of hitless innings of work. He fanned a pair of batters.
The Gorillas will return to action Apr. 20-22 with a four-game series against NW Missouri Sate at AL Ortolani Field.
