
A local high school is among 78 in the U.S. that has been named as a first ever U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon School.
The announcement was made today by the Obama Administration and Erie High School in Kansas was named one of the winners.
The U.S. Secretary ofEeducation says the Green Ribbon Schools demonstrate compelling examples of the ways schools can help children build real-world skill sets, cut school costs, and provide healthy learning environments.
The Green Ribbon Program was started by the U.S. Department of Education in September 2011.
