Independence Community College prepares for first Vet Tech graduating class

Updated:

Veterinary tech students gear up in their last few days of class, getting ready to be the first graduating class of their college.

The students at Independence Community College are the first graduating class from the Vet Tech program.

This semester the students switched from operating out of their old class rooms, to a new facility.

Having the chance to use brand new state of the art equipment is allowing them to have a more hands on experience.

"Our new facility was completed just this last semester so we moved in in February of this year," says Ann Dutton, the Director of the ICC Veterinary Technology Program.  "The students have been real excited to be in the new facility where they can have experiences more hands on technical skills."

Dutton says that ICC is one of few community colleges in the state of Kansas to offer the vet tech program for students.
