Updated:

JOPLIN -- The Missouri Southern baseball team split a pair of games today at Lincoln University, winning the opener 9-2, but falling 8-1 in game two.

The Lions (28-18, 19-17 MIAA) picked up a complete game win in the opener from senior Ethen Stenger as the St. Louis native went all seven, striking out three and walking just one, while allowing only two runs.

Sam Ryan drove in two in game one, while Jesse Kinzey and MJ Sartin both went 3-3 in the game. Every Lion had a hit in the game and all but one scored.

Lincoln (7-37, 7-28 MIAA) starter Chris Pfau shut down the Lions in game two, going all nine innings and limiting Southern to just two hits.

Tee Helsel and Michael McCoy had hits in the game with Helsel adding his 14th double of the season. Cullen Baxter drove in a run.

The Lions will be back in action next Friday and Saturday as Southern ends the regular season with a four-game set at home against Southwest Baptist. Saturday's games will feature senior day for the 15 Lions seniors on the roster.
