A Joplin teen organizes a benefit concert for the nonprofit organization Children's Haven.
Brayden Taylor Mathis, or "BT", is a young rapper and singer from Joplin.
The South Middle School student visited Children's Haven, an organization that provides temporary care for children of all ages when their family is in a crisis.
He wanted to host a concert that would not only raise money for it but also raise awareness.
The concert will be this Thursday at 7 p.m. at the South Middle School. There is a minimum of a $2 donation at the door.
Children's Haven officials say they appreciate what the teen is doing for their organization.
"Ii think it's overwhelming joy that a 13 yr old boy can come up with and create such a huge benefit for children in Joplin," says Kristen Devore of Children's Haven.
