Sneak peek of new Bordertown Casino

The Eastern Shawnee Tribe shows off its $90,000,000 baby, a bigger Bordertown Casino.

Usually businesses don't give media tours until construction is finished and buildings are dust free, but the Tribe and Red Stone Construction wanted us to see the work in progress to see its true economic impact.

The group of special guests see the shell of large bingo halls as they tour the new Bordertown Casino.  The project also includes a 117 room hotel and guests could see the view from the 7th floor.  Overlooking a resort style pool not yet filled and in the back an RV park in the works.

Construction crews work on the raised floor under which 100 miles of low voltage cables will power casino games.

It's a labor pool that averages 200 plus on a daily basis coming from the Four State area that officials say is the most important part of the project.

"Every tribe in the nation has a neighboring community and I think it's very important to understand the success of that tribe spills over into the community and helps with employment opportunity and economic development," says Chris Samples, the President and founder of Red Stone Construction.  "It builds a team - builds a partnership between the tribe and its local community."

Red Stone in keeping with the tribe's wishes in making it a green project, recycling stone that has been blasted to create the parking lots.  All trees cut were given to tribal members for winter firewood, and thousands of new ones are planted.

The project is ahead of schedule.  Beds are expected to arrive next week and an opening is anticipated for September.
