Students and residents in Pittsburg present a check to help benefit Joplin schools.
More than $1,100 was raised from a 5K run that was held in Pittsburg on March 31.
Joplin Schools Superintendent CJ Huff says the money will be gratefully accepted.
"We continue to have a lot of needs in relationship to our students and our staff, we had so many people that lost so much," says Dr Huff.
123 runners took part in the race organized by Sigma Phi Epsilon at Pittsburg State.
Pitt State students hope they started a yearly tradition.
"I defiantly hope to make this a tradition," says Matt Fangman, the Vice President of Finance for Sigma Phi Epsilon. "Hopefully we can keep this going year after year after year, and hopefully that it keeps getting bigger and we keep raising money to help other charities out."
The race was sponsored by KOAM and Fox 14.
