Barnes, Stalcup Earn All-MIAA Baseball Honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Senior outfielder Chase Barnes and junior pitcher Matt Stalcup each earned honorable mention All-MIAA honors today (May 9).

Barnes, a Neosho, Mo., native, finished his career as a two-time All-MIAA performer. He started all 48 games for the Gorillas, batting .311 with 10 doubles, six home runs and 27 RBIs. He also drew a team-leading 24 walks and posted a .985 fielding percentage on defense.

Stalcup, a Wellington, Kan., native, factored in all 14 of his appearances this season. He posted a 7-6 record with one save, starting 12 of 14 appearances. Stalcup posted a team-low 3.74 ERA, registering 92 strikeouts in 77.0 innings of work.
