
A local church helps kids build back their home libraries.
Grace Baptist Church is putting books into the hands of students at Cecil Floyd Elementary by putting a check for $3,000 into the hands of the principal.
The church raised funds through a community walk at the mall.
Several students who are church members lost their homes in the tornado and books with them.
Pastor Fred Vogel says he thinks it's a good way to help kids.
"Having been a teacher myself I know the value of reading, having grown up with the opportunity to read I know it helped me in education," says Pastor Vogel. "It's something I think all kids should have the opportunity to do."
The principal says it's important for students to have books at home so they can discover that reading is for pleasure not just homework.
