The latest numbers show more students in Crawford County, Kansas are now choosing to buckle up.
Students at Northeast High School in Arma were honored today for achieving the greatest improvement in the county's "SAFE" program.
Girard High School received the prize for having the highest overall percentage with 93% of kids wear their seatbelts.
"It is an awesome thing - SAFE is a good program and it shows us seat belts are important and needed," says Ashlyn Sandberg of SAFE.
"(A) great program and it is going on statewide," says Crawford County Sheriff Sandy Horton. "It is truly working in the fact of the rollover accidents are running 98% of our occupants buckled."
Sheriff Horton says since this project began four years ago they have issued less tickets a year to students for not wearing their seatbelts.
