A Missouri American Water Company employee is killed on the job while attempting to cut a waterline pipe near the old St. Mary's Elementary in Joplin.
Fellow workers say it was an industrial accident but Joplin police say no one called 911 and they were not notified until after the deceased man was brought into the hospital.
The Jasper County coroner confirms Robert Clark died from a saw injury to his neck, and that he had already died by the time he arrived at the hospital.
The incident happened Wednesday afternoon at 25th and Moffet Streets.
The company issued a statement today saying Clark was a valued employee and friend; and, that his death yesterday was a tragic and unexpected loss.
An investigation is underway as to why authorities were not notified immediately after the accident.
