A Carthage organization helps those who are in need of appliances and furniture.
Residents rolled in with trucks at the Carthage Crisis Center to pack up desks, mattresses and washing machines.
More than 250 furniture pieces and appliances were offered free of charge.
Some Joplin residents whose homes were effected by the tornado were able to pick up a few items for their new homes.
"We lived at 20th and Bird and our house got hit so we had to move and stay in motels for about eight months and then we got a FEMA trailer and then they helped us get a house," says Joplin resident Josh Miller. "Now we have were on a hunt and we have a big nice house and we are trying to get furniture for it."
The furniture giveaway was a one-day event but the director of the center says he will work to find specific items residents need by request.
