The anniversary of the tornado has brought the national spotlight back to Joplin. News organizations from around the country line 26th Street in Joplin to cover today's events.
A year ago many of these same news teams traveled to Joplin hours after the tornado struck.
This is the fourth trip for a reporter from an ABC affiliate in south Texas. KRGV reporter Farrah Fazal says the progress Joplin has made is inspiring but she says she'll always remember how Joplin looked right after the storm.
"First drove into town on Saturday and I said to my photographer, 'I'm a little lost here, where's the debris and the devastation, where are landmarks?' and all of that had been cleaned up and we didn't quite know where we were going, because we didn't see our debris landmark," Fazal says.
Most news crews we spoke with plan to leave Joplin tomorrow.
