Missouri Southern names Matt Elliott as the new "Voice of the Lions"

Updated:

JOPLIN -- The Missouri Southern Athletics Department announces that Matt Elliott will be the new radio play-by-play "Voice of the Lions" beginning with the 2012 football season.

Elliott is very familiar with the MIAA, having provided color commentary for all Truman State football broadcasts during the 2011 season alongside veteran MIAA broadcaster Brad Boyer.  He also served as play-by-play announcer for several Truman State basketball games during the 2011-12 season.  Elliott currently is employed at KRES radio in Moberly, Missouri where among other duties he provides play-by-play for a host of area high school football and basketball teams.

A Brookfield, Mo. native and a graduate of Northwest Missouri State, Elliott served as sideline reporter for all 2009 football broadcasts on the Bearcat Radio Network.  While in Maryville, he was also station manager, program director and sports director at KZLX radio.

"I'd like to thank Missouri Southern for giving me this opportunity," said Elliott.  "I'm very excited to be able to stay in the MIAA and continue to be involved in Division II athletics. I'm very proud to be the Voice of the Missouri Southern Lions."

"We are happy to welcome Matt to the Missouri Southern Athletics Department as the Voice of the Lions," said Jared Bruggeman, MSSU Athletics Director.  "His play-calling ability is excellent and we know that our fans will enjoy listening to him."
