Marcela Lara
Charges are filed against a Neosho, Missouri woman accused of supplying or allowing alcohol to be served to minors at her establishment, El Far West.
Marcela Lara, 37, is now charged with six counts of minor in possession, and one charge for endangering the welfare of a child.
Neosho police started investigating El Far West after stopping a vehicle last weekend for erratic driving. Officers found all passengers in the car had been drinking at Lara's club, including the 16 year old driver.
All but one of the five passengers were underage. They had bracelets from the club indicating they were over 21.
A few days later the Neosho Police Department, Newton County Sheriff, the Missouri Highway Patrol and the Newton County Juvenile Office set up a sting at the bar. Investigators found 10 underage teens wearing "over 21" wrist bands.
"The allegation is that employees working at the door would refuse entry, would refuse to give them to a wrist band that would allow them to consume alcohol and the owner would in essence would overrule the decision that was made by the bouncer at the door - that is all yet to be proven obviously," Newton County prosecuting attorney Jacob Skouby has said.
