Use caution when putting up political signs

Updated:

For safety reasons Missouri transportation officials are asking residents to use caution when putting up yard signs off state-owned rights of way.

The signs endorsing political candidates or advertising yard sales can be traffic hazards if they restrict visibility and create obstacles for drivers who need to pull over quickly for an emergency.

Political campaign advertising is allowed on private property bordering state right of way.  However, people erecting these signs must first obtain permission from the property owner.
