
Joplin and Duquesne city officials held a news conference Thursday to highlight the work of community partners since the tornado.
Joplin City Manager Mark Rohr says about 85% of the businesses damaged by tornado have returned to town and of the more than 7,500 homes destroyed or damaged, more than 70% have been rebuilt or are already planning to rebuild.
"Some folks didn't have insurance, some folks didn't have a good enough insurance policy, and those people are the ones we end up helping," says Curtis Scott of Economic Security Corporation of Southwest Missouri.
Economic security corporations was also there to outline the "home" program to help provide permanent housing solutions.
