From the City of Parsons:
Parsons, Kansas – More than 220 Parsons Paint Project volunteers will be arriving Sunday afternoon July 15 at Parsons High School. Program organizers would like to invite the entire community to welcome the volunteers at a picnic that evening.
Festivities will run from 5-7 p.m and residents are invited to join meet and greet the volunteers. Hamburgers and hotdogs will be served and contributions to the picnic are welcome.
The Paint Project is a work-camp for faith-based youth from around the nation who travel as part of a mission project, painting houses and doing small carpentry jobs for qualifying individuals. The Parsons project is coordinated through Westside Christian Church and local pastor Doug Baty.
The Parsons Paint Project is still in need of ladders. Anyone wishing to donate a ladder may bring it to the evening event. Volunteers will be housed at the High School during the project.
More than 6,000 hours of donated service to the Parsons' community is expected and organizers encourage residents to attend the picnic to show their appreciation and welcome the volunteers. For more information on how to provide services for the project or food for the picnic call Westside Christian Church at 620-421-3533.
