More than 130 students in the Pittsburg School District are getting a boost in their academics this summer.

It's the first year of the Summer Boost Academy at Meadowlark Elementary.

The Pittsburg School District received a $500,000 grant to fund the camp.  With the help of the grant students are learning about nutrition, physical fitness and building robotics with software programs.

Students say the program has made them realize that learning can be fun.

"It helps you learn it's fun and you can be very active while learning," says Halee Cobb.

"It's different than regular school because, like, you're having fun and learning new stuff like how to eat healthier," says Chaden Taylor.

The Pittsburg School District is also providing students free breakfast and lunch whether they are enrolled in the program or not.
