A northeast Oklahoma company is looking to help make Grand Lake more eco-friendly.
B&L Environmental Solutions Recycling Center is slowly building momentum on Grand Lake.
The recycling center is helping dock owners clean up and abide by Grand River Dam Authority regulations. GRDA recently made changes to rules for Styrofoam on the lake. The rule states that new docks must have incased Styrofoam and for any remodeling done to existing docks old Styrofoam must be removed.
That's when B&L steps in to help. The company takes the Styrofoam and compresses it down to be recycled. Once the Styrofoam is compressed it will then be recycled.
It's also a way to clean up the lake shore.
"It's been a problem for 15 to 20 years," says Larry Edmisten, the owner of B&L Environmental Solutions Recycling Center. "Everybody wants to do something about it but they haven't had a way to do what we are doing. Setting up this machine is giving everybody a chance to get it done."
Edmisten tells us the Styrofoam could be recycled into many things including diesel fuel.
The compress machine will be up and running by the end of next month.
