Freeman to provide free physicals to area athletes

JOPLIN, Mo.—Freeman Rehabilitation and Sports Center will offer free annual preparticipation physical exams to an estimated 1,000 local high school and college athletes. The free physicals are available Monday, July 23 and Tuesday, July 24 at the newly constructed Freeman Rehabilitation and Sports Center, located at 2206 East 32nd Street.

For 21 years, Freeman has proudly provided this service to the community. More than 75 Freeman doctors, nurses, therapists, and clinicians volunteer their time and talent each night to assist with these annual physicals.

Parental consent is required for participation. Consent forms, available at Freeman Rehabilitation and Sports Center, may be signed at the time of the physical. 6:30 pm Joplin High School (juniors and seniors)

7 pm Joplin High School (freshman and sophomores)

7:30 pm Joplin eighth grade students

8 pm Joplin seventh grade students

8:15 pm Children of Freeman Health System employees (middle school and high school students)

    In 2039, Pittsburg State Students will open a time capsule and get a picture of what life was like on campus today. Filling that time capsule will be one of the tasks at a groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday, April 30, to kick off a major expansion and renovation of the Overman Student Center at PSU. The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. on the east side of the student center.More >>
