
Updated July 26, 2012 at 2:40 PM CST: A DNA test on the body found at a fire has identified Kristi Stockam, 51, as the victim of the fire on Gum Road early Monday morning.
The Jasper County Sheriff's Office says they were informed of the test results today from the Missouri State Highway Patrol Crime Lab.
Authorities say the investigation into the fire continues.
Updated July 23, 2012 at 3:50 PM CST: The Carl Junction Fire Department was called out to a fire on Gum Road around 5:30 a.m. on Monday.
Authorities say neighbors called and said a woman was always at the house.
After crews got the fire under control they found the body of the woman believed to be the resident by the back door.
The fire is currently under investigation.
"The fire marshal, we just left there a few minutes ago and he is right now saying 'undetermined' - he doesn't know for certain what happened so he is leaving undetermined until he does some more checking with people and so forth and so on," says Carl Junction Fire Chief Bill Dunn.
Dunn says the home is a total loss.
Posted July 23, 2012 at 1:04 PM CST: Emergency crews say they were called to a fire on Gum Road at 5:35 a.m. on Monday. After the fire was under control crews found the body of the woman believed to be the resident near the back door.
At 11:30 a.m. the fire marshal and Jasper County sheriff's deputies took over the scene.
