Aggravated battery involving hammer under investigation in Parsons

PARSONS, KS --- The Parsons Police Department are investigating an aggravated battery that occurred around 6 p.m. on Tuesday in the 2000 block of Appleton.

Upon arrival officers found a 51-year-old man, who had been beaten with a hammer, which was recovered at the scene. He was transported to Labette Health, and then on to Freeman Health Systems. His condition is currently unknown.

A suspect, a 42-year-old male from Parsons, is currently being held pending review from the Labette County Attorney's Office. He was also beaten by the same hammer during the fight.

The incident is still under investigation.
