A Joplin hospital helps a community clinic take care of patients with heat-related illnesses.
Mercy Hospital donated $1,000 to the Community Clinic on 7th Street. The money will be used to buy box fans for some patients who don't have air conditioning in their homes.
One Mercy doctor says he's seen three times more patients with heat-related illness this year than last.
"You've got to drink water - we each need two quarts a day if we're doing nothing - in the heat you should double or triple the amount of water that you take in," says Dr. Paul Schaefer.
The clinic has already bought 15 box fans to give to patients.
