Cody Griebling begins professional baseball career

JOPLIN -- Former Missouri Southern pitcher Cody Griebling has signed a professional contract with the Schaumburg Bombers of the Frontier League. 

Griebling was a first-team All-MIAA pick this season, and was an honorable mention pick a season ago. This season, Griebling helped the team to the third-best team ERA in the MIAA and led the league with 89 innings pitched. His 68 strikeouts rank third in the league and the nine wins are second.

He ranked second in Division II with nine complete games which ties a Missouri Southern single-season record. In his two-year career, Griebling finished with a 16-8 record, with a 3.54 ERA in 29 appearances. He has struck out 122 batters, walked 60, and has 12 complete games in 159 innings pitched, while holding batters to a .240 batting average.

So far in two games with the Bombers, Griebling is 1-1 with a 2.77 ERA in two starts. He has struck out nine in 13 innings pitched.
