Firefighters are blaming hot and dry conditions for a weekend fire in Baxter Springs, Kansas which damaged two homes and a barn.
The fire occurred Sunday afternoon at a home off the Highway 69 bypass near the Kansas, Oklahoma state line.
Sparks from an electrical box ignited the grass below. The flames spread to the side of the house, the backyard barn, and then to a neighboring home.
About 11 acres were scorched.
Both homes were occupied when the fire erupted but all residents were able to make it out safely.
