Joplin students entering the sixth grade are attending the 6th Grade Academy, a program designed to help ease the transition from elementary school to middle school.
"It introduces the students to North and they are going to get their schedules," says North Middle School Principal Brandon Eggleston. "They are going to get to walk around the building. They are going to kind of just be accustomed to it so when they show up the first day of school they are more relaxed, they know where things are, they know how the operation of the building works because it's a big step coming from fifth grade to sixth grade."
This free Academy began today and continues through Friday from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at North, East and South Middle Schools.
