Children's Haven held a groundbreaking today for their new home.
A $150,000 check was also presented to Children's Haven from Leggett and Platt. A $100,000 check from Cardinal Scale was also given to Children's Haven to support the project that includes construction of the new building.
The new home will allow for double the amount of children they can house, a storm shelter and a bigger kitchen.
"Children's Haven takes care of those kids while families are in crisis giving them, you know, keeping their lives as normal as possible," says Brian Lorimer of Children's Haven. "We keep the kids in their desks, at their school, eating three square meals a day, in a home-like environment."
Construction is scheduled to begin later this month and they expect the new building to be complete by next summer.
