Bright Futures Carthage received a check for almost $13,000 today from Friends of the McCune-Brooks Healthcare Foundation.
The check is to help fund Bright Futures Backpack Program. The program allows students in the Carthage R-9 District to have food over the weekend.
"This donation is very vital - we operate on the generosity of the community, we have several partnerships, and we find that within the community there is the time, talent, and treasure to meet the needs of our students," says Pamela Corkle of Bright Futures Carthage. "One of the biggest needs of our students is to make sure that they have good proper nutrition so that when they come to school, they are willing and able to learn better."
The school year in Carthage begins one week from today.
