
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Defending MIAA champion Central Missouri tops the MIAA women's soccer coaches preseason poll released today. The Jennies took 12 of the possible 13 first place votes and had 144 points. Central Oklahoma did not receive a first place vote, but come in #2 in the poll with 130 points. The Jennies were the MIAA's representatives in the NCAA post-season tournament falling to sweet 16 participant Dallas Baptist.
Truman earned the other first place vote and came in at #3 in the poll. Northwest Missouri came in just two points ahead of #5 Missouri Southern coming in at the #4 spot with 96 points. Northeastern State and Fort Hays State round out of the top seven with 77 and 74 points respectively.
Southwest Baptist earn the #8 nod from the coaches scoring 58 points and Nebraska-Kearney was #9 with 57 points. Lindenwood rounds out the preseason top ten with 50 votes. Emporia State earns the #11 spot in the poll with 46 total votes while Washburn comes in at #12 with 37 points. Missouri Western rounds out the poll with 26 total votes.
The 2012 soccer campaign will get underway on August 31 as nine of the 13 teams will take the field.
