Inter-State Fair and Rodeo underway in Coffeyville

The Inter-State Fair and Rodeo got underway today in Coffeyville, Kansas.

The demolition derby was held today.

Other events at this years fair include a lawn mower race, bull riding and tomorrow will feature the music fest.

Organizers say the fair is important to the city.

"It means a lot to Coffeyville and the merchants get behind us and the businesses get behind us and they back us," says Fair board member Fred Fisher.  "They are really good about backing us and helping us out.  It brings people from the Four States into the community, revenues go up, it helps the local community."

The fair runs through August 18.
