Some churches in Southwest Missouri team up to help send students back to school with confidence.
The program involves the Bright Futures organization.
It began about five years ago with a woman named Susan Doyle and other church members near Carl Junction. The organization that helps students succeed Bright Futures has now gotten involved.
Bright Futures now purchases thousands of dollars worth of school supplies.
Volunteers like Doyle then put them into backpacks.
When Carl Junction students register for school they are asked if they need any help buying school supplies.
These supplies from Bright Futures are then given away with no questions asked.
This year's back to school pack was at the Fir Road Christian Church.
Susan Doyle says most school supplies students need are given to them.
"They have a set list that we go off of and if there's any items on that list that we can not provide, we actually write that on a little list for them and say 'hey, this is everything except for maybe this item,'" says Dyle. "And that way the parent knows that they may need to go ahead and pick up those couple of items."
