Pittsburg State mourns the death of a teacher

Staff and students are shocked by the sudden death of Dr. Alexander Konopelko, an Assistant Professor of Physics at Pittsburg State University.

Dr. Konopelko was killed in a traffic accident at K-126 and 260th avenue east of Pittsburg.

Dr. Konopelko came to PSU in 2008.  He earned his PhD in physics in Russia in 1990.

Dr. Konopelko died after he turned into the path of another vehicle and was hit on the drivers side.

His wife, Tatiana, and daughter, Nicole, were both taken by medical helicopters to hospitals.
