Kids get a first hand look at safety demonstrations while having a little bit of fun outside on Saturday.
The Alliance of Southwest Missouri's Project Care's Kids Safety Fair was held at Ewert Park in Joplin.
Area first responders taught children about being safe while doing fingerprint tests and handing out DNA kits in case of an emergency.
"This is all about parents and kids coming together to get safety information, but also to just have a day of fun before school starts," says Nancy Corley of Project Care.
Event organizers say about 300 parents and children also got a free meal and prizes.
