A new school year is just a few days away for many districts in the Four States and today, staff members geared up in Joplin and Webb City.
Members of the community today welcomed teachers and staff members of the Joplin Schools for an opening ceremony at the Joplin Inn Convention Center.
More than 1,200 people attended the event.
Staff members heard from several speakers in a pep rally of sort to get pumped for the school year.
"Everybody's getting excited and when you're with just a bunch of teachers or a bunch of staff together then it really does raise your excitement for the new year," says Stacy Saunders of Joplin Schools.
Teachers, faculty and staff for the Webb City School District also held a meeting and get together today.
The meeting was held in the morning to discuss goals and expectations, then in the afternoon teachers prepared their rooms for the start of school, which starts on Wednesday.
"We think it's really important at least one time during the year that we communicate one message and that is building relationships and trying to get kids motivated so they will be successful when they leave us," says Webb City Schools Superintendent Anthony Rossetti.
About 600 faculty and staff attended the get together.
Wednesday is the first day of school for both Joplin and Webb City.
