MSSU mascot visits Carl Junction school

Updated:

Carl Junction students get a pep talk from Larry the Lion, the Missouri Southern mascot.

It's part of a program this year at the school to remind kids of the fun education ahead of them after high school.

The program is called Carl Junction University.

"Instead of asking the kids if they're going to graduate from high school, that's crazy, it's like the IRS asking us if we're going to pay our taxes, so we're going to tell our kids when you graduate from high school where is your future going to take you - where are you going to go to college?" says Carl Junction Intermediate School Principal Gretchen Demasters.

Carl Junction's Bulldog also made an appearance.

This is the first year the fourth, fifth and sixth grades are in one building in Carl Junction.
