A celebration kick off was held today at Missouri Southern State University.
Today's campus picnic marked the beginning of the Fall semester as well as the university's 75th anniversary.
Students, staff and members of the community were all invited to join in on the free fun and food.
"To show them that we want them here and they matter," says Elizabeth Colley, the Vice President for the Campus Activities Board. "It's a morale booster to say that they can come here and it's an inviting environment and good food."
Those attending the picnic also got to be part of a group photo which will be featured in 75th anniversary printings and postings.
Pittsburg State also started classes today.
