A miscalculation of property valuation means tax collectors will have to rebudget for the 2013 fiscal year.
Bourbon County, Kansas overestimated about $1.5 million in the property valuation, meaning the city, Fort Scott Community College, the school district and the county must now cut their budgets a total of $290,000.
The school district lost more than $40,000 in its estimated budget cutting much needed improvements from schools.
The school district will decide whether to raise the mill levy by 0.479 or decrease the budget overall at a meeting this Thursday.
