Hot Dogs and Cool Cats in Joplin

The first ever Hot Dogs and Cool Cats celebration kicks off at the Joplin Humane Society on Saturday.

Visitors enjoyed free hot dogs, ice cream and balloons as well as specials on the new furry friends.

The Joplin Humane Society says the event was so successful that they can hardly keep count of the number of adoptions.

"The best part of this project is just seeing all of the animals go home with their forever families, the happy endings make us smile and with each pet adopted, it actually saves two lives, the one that is going home today and the one that is going out of the door," says Tianna Fisher of the Joplin Humane Society.
