A Joplin business that has hired 23 military veterans since 2010 under the Missouri Show Me Heroes program today received the Flag of Freedom Award from Governor Jay Nixon.
The governor presented the award to Able Manufacturing at a ceremony.
The Show Me Heroes program is designed to connect military veterans to jobs when they return home from service.
"We as a company have even before the initiative have tried to hire military personnel that are coming home and trying to find job opportunities," says Peter Salmon of Able Manufacturing.
"An employer like this one not only provides good jobs here but also makes sure that those veterans that serve our country can come back here and find good jobs in this region is very important and Able Manufacturing hiring 23 veterans since 2010 is a true leader for the Show Me State," says Governor Nixon.
So far over 2,300 businesses have taken the Show Me Heroes pledge.
