Newly appointed Federal Communications Commissioner Ajit Pai stopped in Oswego, Kansas this morning to visit the local high school.
Commissioner Pai is originally from Parsons and spoke to students about achieving their goals no matter where they come from.
Pai toured the school and says he was very impressed with the technology.
"Just to see how technology is enabling teachers and students to interact in ways that allow them to have a better educational experience is something that's very rewarding to me," Pai says.
Pai says he wants to get a better grasp on the technology needs and rural economic development challenges in our area.
"Rural broadband deployment, for example, is one area where I think the FCC needs to do what it can to make sure that everyone, especially in the rural area, has access to high-speed Internet access," Pai says.
He also plans to meet with community and state leaders throughout Southeast Kansas.
