Man injured while preparing for fireworks display for Joplin convention

A man is injured while preparing for a fireworks display that will be conducted as part of a National Fireworks Association convention in Joplin, Missouri.

Officials tell us they're not sure at this time what went wrong and are investigating.

The owner of Aerial FX of Saint Joseph, Missouri took the employee to an area hospital where he was treated for minor burns to his hands.

The worker is okay and will be working the shows tonight and tomorrow.

The National Fireworks Association has invited the public to attend both Friday's display and Saturday's grand finale.  Attendees are to enter the old Joplin 66 Speedway through the 13th Street entrance.  Both displays begin at 8 p.m. and are expected to last until 11 p.m.  Cost is $10 per vehicle.
