Search for an armed suspect in southwest Missouri

Updated:

Southwest Missouri police are on the hunt for an armed robber who witnesses say held up a convenience store with a knife in Monett early this morning.

The clerk at the Casey's General Store in Monett says shortly after 5 a.m. a tall man wearing a dark mask entered the store, displayed a knife and demanded money.

The suspect first fled on bicycle and then ran on foot into a field.

Both Barry and Newton Counties and the state highway patrol are assisting in the search.
