The Rotary Club of Joplin held a groundbreaking today for the Will Norton Miracle Field at the Joplin Athletic Complex.
The field will be a flat and smooth baseball field accessible to all children.
The field is named in honor of Will Norton, a recent high school graduate who died in last year's tornado.
Norton helped out a lot for Rotary camps and in volunteer projects.
"We are honored, obviously and it's such a great thing," says Will's father, Mark Norton. "Our son was always about helping others and it just fit his legacy so well and we know what he would - this is exactly what he would want to be a part of. We are truly honored."
The field will also feature the only handicap accessible playground in Joplin.
