
Updated September 15, 2012 at 10:30 AM CST: Two Southeast Kansas residents die in a one vehicle crash in Carona on Friday night.
It happened around 7:50 p.m. near 20th Street and Highway 102.
The Cherokee County Sheriff's office says the 1990 Toyota Camry was traveling east on Highway 102 when it crossed the westbound lane and hit a cement culvert.
Allen Wayne Bird, 32 of West Mineral, was the driver. Kenneth Lee Bridgewater, 23 of Columbus, was the passenger.
Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
The bodies were taken to Kansas City for autopsies.
Police say the investigation is still ongoing.
Updated September 14, 2012 at 10:01 PM CST: Sheriff Groves says Highway 102 has reopened.
He says names are still not being released pending family notification.

As of 9:00 p.m. Cherokee County Sheriff David Groves says they're still on the scene and families have not yet been notified.
No other details are available at this time.
