After being rained out a few weekends ago KKOW Radio celebrated its 75th anniversary on Sunday at Lincoln Park in Pittsburg.
The radio station started out as KOAM on the AM dial in 1937, and continues to try to provide a full service to the Four State area. Broadcasts include classic country music, an agriculture department and local sports coverage.
Sunday's celebration was an appreciation event, which included the local band Clean Slate, a dunk tank and a bounce house for children.
Vice President and General Manager George Demarco says being on the air is a great accomplishment.
"We really have two customers," says Demarco. "Our first customer is our listeners. Without listeners we can't be a radio station. Our second customer is of course our advertisers, and our listeners support our advertisers and we appreciate that."
Demarco says there are probably only a handful of stations across the country that have been around as long as KKOW.
The stations FM station began in the late 80's.
