A man is in critical condition in the Columbia, Missouri hospital after he and another man were hit from behind by a truck while riding their bicycles on Sunday.
Authorities say two men were riding their bikes on the edge of the road on US 166 west of Lyons Road when they were hit from behind by a truck.
Tim Schartz, 62 of Altamont, was taken by helicopter to Joplin Freeman Hospital, then later taken to Columbia Hospital where he is in critical condition.
Charles Littrell, 56 of Chetopa, was taken to Labette Health, treated and released.
The driver of the truck, Wesley McKey, 26, was not hurt.
CORRECTION: It was initially reported Schartz was released from the Joplin hospital, when in fact he was transferred to a hospital in Columbia. Again, at last report, Schartz was in critical condition.
